White Butterfly

This seemingly innocent looking white butterfly has wreaked havoc in our vegetable garden:



This is the Small Cabbage White Butterfly and its larva is considered one of the most destructive of all of the caterpillars, devouring cabbages and other cruciferous crops all over the world. They sure have done a number on our purple cabbage, but I have to admit I’m secretly charmed by the abundance of pretty white butterflies floating above my head as I work in the garden.
