Charlie Taber did an amazing job with the loon displays; the artwork looked fantastic! The Opening Reception was very well attended, and greatly celebrated by a wonderful group of extremely happy, charitable people. I especially enjoyed meeting the other artists and seeing their fabulous loony works of art in person. We truly had a lovely time. Although, my cheeks are still burning from the chiding I received over the (85) hours I spent painting my loon.
"The Exalted Loon" garnered a very generous bid and now happily resides in the home of a well respected local philanthropist. Overall, the Loon Project and Winter Fest Weekend at The Center in Eastman was a tremendous success, raising over $14,000 for David's House. I am both proud and honored to have participated in this very worthy cause.
Hockey, hockey, hockey! Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday! My darling boy is on the ice 4-5 times a week, where he revels in the chills and thrills of ice hockey!
Here is Caden clowning around with some of his pals before the Kids vs. Parents game:
And here are Caden and Jody as a blur on the ice:
This by the way is unfortunately how all of my photos on the ice turned out!
The BIG Twin Valley Invitational tournament begins Friday March 5th. I’ll be baking some goodies and working the concession stand. Hope to see you there!
Winter as we New Englanders know it, has finally arrived. Look at this snow!
This of course resulted in that mythical winter event that every child hopes for, The Snow Day! We had not one, but two Snow Days last week! Caden and I got out there early and made the most of the snow as we haven’t had much to speak of all winter.
Here is Caden posing inside the massive snow fort that broke his Mama’s back:
Those snowballs were heavy! But it was worth it because Caden truly had a perfect Snow Day!
Caden is celebrating Valentine’s Day with his kindergarten friends today. He decided he wanted to make his own card design again this year, so with a bit of assistance from me, we came up with this lovely little Skully Valentine:
Caden explained to me that adding the cracks and broken parts to the bones made the design much more interesting and exciting. I agree, pretty astute for a 6 year old. Overall, I’m not sure what it all means but I think it's fabulous! Whatever the case, the skull design worked great with the leftover Rocktacular party favors so we made some delightful black goody bags to go with his very excellent Valentine vision. Lots of fun. They will have a blast!
My 2008 Mindworks Collection. Geared is the next evolution of Mindworks; focusing on gears, with a new and exciting variety of shapes and color combinations to choose from.
This brightly colored, boldly patterned, armor like collection was inspired by my painting of Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, the arts, industry, justice and skill.
I am thrilled to announce that I will be participating in “The Night Sparkles” at the Montshire Museum's 2010 Benefit Auction on Friday, May 7th 2010.
Here is the piece I am donating:
