We are going to have to build that boy a trophy case soon!

A great big thank you to all the coaches and parents who made this hockey season a truly unforgettable experience for our children.

Congratulations to all the players! You all did a wonderful job! You earned it!

Empress: Fuchsia Burst

Team Spirit

Hello Friends and Family!
This weekend is the Mite Winter Classic Tournament at KUA.
Caden will be playing his little heart out! Please stop by to see him play and cheer The Twin Valley Mites on! Go to the Twin Valley Youth Hockey Association website to get the full tournament schedule.

Coach Shawn asked the families to get involved and show our team spirit by making our kids posters like the big kids have at the KUA games.
Here are my poster efforts which Caden deemed *fabulous*.

Caden is really looking forward to the tournament. Hope to see you there! Go Flyers!

PES Fundraiser

I’ll be donating another set of Exalted Beauty Medallions to the Plainfield School 7th Grade Dinner Auction this year. The auction is a major source of funds for the 7th graders’ class trip coming up in the spring of 2012. This event is 100% volunteer run and 100% of the proceeds are used to benefit the Plainfield students. Over the years this has become a highly anticipated community event with more then 300 people expected to attend. The 7th Grade Dinner Auction will be held on Sunday, March 20th, 2011. Keeping my fingers crossed, hoping the medallions do well for them! Please support Plainfield Elementary School and our amazing kids! Contact the Plainfield School Auction Committee for more information about this very important event.

Empress: Victorian Blush

Deer

Here’s a look at who’s hanging out in our backyard:

Stay-cation Blues

I can’t believe I am actually saying this but I think I’m suffering from the stay-cation blues. I already miss Caden! Last week was fairly uneventful for Caden and I, we had a few visits with friends, spent afternoons at the library, we did some experimental baking, crafting, goofing off, shopping, going for long walks (one day Caden wore just a T-Shirt), generally being silly, staying up late watching movies, lazing around reading, basically doing nothing all that extraordinary, but it was really good. Now I find I’m having difficulty getting back into the swing of things. However I did enjoy my time back with my beloved Treadmill this morning, our time apart was most detrimental to my waistline! But now it’s time to get serious and get organized! I have paintings to deliver, another auction to prep work for, and another 110 Empress medallions to paint! With any luck, and a lot more caffeine, I hope to present the next Empress set later this afternoon. Wish me luck! In the meantime, I feel compelled to share some photos of one of my favorite reasons to live here, our deer. Stay tuned, cute -n- fuzzy deer are up next.

Caden and I celebrated Valentine’s Day with a bit of green snow art:

And some black and white Heart Doodles:

We hope you are having a Happy Valentine’s Day!

Winter Break

My son Caden is officially on Winter Break! The Mr. is traveling to Seattle for a work thing a bit later this week and Caden and I will be home enjoying a stay-cation. That said I will be taking some time off from the Empress Medallion collection to hang with my little cutie patootie. We have lots of fun stuff planned, including some much needed rest and relaxation! In-between our stay-cation activities I hope to get organized enough to share some very important upcoming events. Stay Tuned!

Empress: Wisteria

Empress: Antique Silver

Due to popular demand, I’ve decided to change a portion of the Empress collection to Antique Silver (instead of the Antique Copper base) for my silver loving Exalted ones. In order to do so I will be eliminating some of the originally planned Empress
color sets: 1/2 of Fandango, 1/2 of Regalia, and all of Berrylicious, Thunder Gray, Satsuma Orange, and Indian Ruby. I will be replacing those shades with colors to compliment the Antique Silver base. If anyone has a favorite silver and color combination – please let me know, I’ll be starting the Empress Antique Silver sub-set in a few weeks. Thanks! :)

Over 500 Books!

You may remember Caden’s goal to read 100 books over the summer and how he surpassed that goal by 115 books, reading a total of 215 books over the summer break? Well, we were extremely proud of Caden’s accomplishment and wanted to encourage him to keep going. The list seemed like a wonderful incentive for my budding book worm to keep on reading, so when First Grade began we started a new list. Caden proposed a new goal of reading an additional 300 books during the school year. We thought that number was a bit high for a boy with a busy school and sports schedule but he insisted. As of today, on this Snow Day afternoon, Caden has already surpassed his goal of reading another 300 books, totaling over 500 books in the last eight months. Amazing. Yay Caden!

Hockey Star

Our little hockey star made the paper again!

Caden scored his first GSL goal and it was noted in last Friday’s (January 28, 2011) Valley News. We are so proud of our little hockey player! He has been improving by leaps and bounds, and you can tell how much he truly enjoys the sport! His team (The Twin Valley Mites) is playing great, they have really learned to work together and are mastering the complicated positions and are forming a true understanding and love for the game. Two big tournaments are coming up and the kids are very excited. Friends and family feel free to contact me for the game schedule. We would love to see you there!!!

The Febrile Muse

Cervical Cancer Virus 3
By Amy E. Fraser

This painting is currently featured in an article at The Febrile Muse. Go check out this very interesting and informative new blog that discusses the portrayal of infectious diseases in literature and the arts by C.M. Doran.

The painting above was part of a series I presented in a post entitled The Fallback Plan in January 2008
